FCKNG TOUR LIFE | 005

One month between meetings, family & friends and my studio.

An insight into the Life of Boris Brejcha.

This episode of my blog should actually not be called "Tourblog" but "Homeblog". This time I'll tell you about what it was like at my home the last months.

As many of you already know, I take a break from touring at the beginning of every year. I don't play gigs, but use the several weeks to fully concentrate on my work in the studio and to concentrate on my private life. This time-out is especially important for me because producing is actually my great passion. Since I hardly find any time for it during the normal tourphases, I am even more happy to spend every day in the studio during my "time off". Of course it is also very it is also very exhausting, even if it doesn't look like sometimes. So it is absolutely necessary to get away from it and enjoy your own home.

And that's what happened in the last months:

Tuesdays are usually my "office days" when I do my accounting, answer e-mails and make a lot of phone calls. Important things are clarified and things are discussed. Every Tuesday evening I go to the sauna. Such a little "time out" once a week is important to me to stay healthy and to find my way back to myself.

On all other days of the week my normal daily routine is very structured and may sound unexciting to many people:

I get up every morning at seven o' clock and drink a coffee. When I am really awake, I go to the studio. My studio is at home, which is very pleasant. I spend the whole day there. I dedicate myself completely to the music, and so the hours go on… Sometimes I take a short break to have lunch. Sometimes not. In the evening, at five, I do some sports with my girlfriend and afterwards we do household chores. Clearing out the dishwasher, doing laundry...etc. The normal everyday life ;)

Since my girlfriend also works from home during the day, our time together in the evening is especially important to us... We like to cook a lot and try out our own creations. The time after dinner is reserved for the couch. We love watch movies and eat snacks. We go to bed at eleven pm every evening. I love our routine. It is important to me that we have a regular daily routine and that I have enough time to produce music.

Of course there are exceptions. After all, it's a holiday. Everything is different than in normal weeks when there are gigs on weekends.

Sometimes we go for a massage, visit our families or have meetings.

The weekends in the gig-free phase are then reserved for friends. We are happy to do things we never have time for when we are on tour. We visit friends who live further away, go dancing, eat out, play games, invite friends or go to a spa hotel for the weekend. Then there is time for all these things. These activities are real exceptional situations in the tour life for us. A rarity. That's why we plan our activities well in advance.

But there is one thing we never do during our free time: go on holiday. This may sound strange to some people, but I just don't feel like flying away during my vacation. When we are travelling most of the year by plane and train, I am glad not to have to fly again in my free time. For me home is the biggest oasis.

That is exactly why it is important for me not to live in the city. When I am at home, I want to have peace and rest. I don't need no noisy streets, I just like to hear the birds singing and the wind blowing. This imagination alone reassures me.

Normally, I would start again next weekend with the tour and I would return to tour life. The vacation would be over and I would have had many beautiful moments.

But the Covid-19 virus has put a damper on all of us. What seemed so unimaginable in the beginning, is now reality and we all stay at home. It is uncertain how long this will continue. We can only hope, that together we will get through this crisis well and that it will not last that long. I was looking forward to celebrate with you again and to throw parties. Since health always comes first, it is important to hold back now and follow the instructions given by your government. I hope that we all come back strengthened from this crisis and can soon be reunited on the dance floor.

Until then, my daily routine at home continues... stay tuned :)
